Counseling
At Summit, school-based counseling is provided by our licensed clinical social workers during individual and small group sessions. We use cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques, frustration and stress management, social skills training, and self-esteem enhancement. Using these methods, we teach our students specific strategies to help them sustain appropriate student behavior, develop and use coping strategies, successfully problem solve, and maintain appropriate peer relationships. Developing time management and organizational skills is also a primary focus of counseling. School social workers work collaboratively with teachers, parents, administrators, and outside service providers to assist students to participate to their fullest potential.
