Lower School Events:
Who Puts the Play in Your Weekend?
Let Summit get your weekend going — make plans with your friends and join in any or all
of our sponsored events during the school year — from afternoon bowling to a movie with popcorn (or your snack of choice) to a Saturday baseball game.
Each event costs between $15 and $35 per student. (Ask your parents to visit the Parents’ Association area of the website so you can attend the event of your choice.)
All event information will be communicated via Summit’s e-Blast to your parents, so tell them to watch for information in their email inboxes. Please note that this list of events is also subject to change, so it’s a good idea to check back often.
All Lower School students must be accompanied by an adult, unless otherwise noted. Your parents will have the opportunity to meet and greet socially in a separate area during the event.
Check out this year’s events and join the fun!
Family Bowling
An afternoon of bowling makes for a fun-filled start to the academic year. Summit’s family bowling event takes place in October and has recently been held at the spacious Lucky
Strike Lanes in Manhattan. Siblings are welcome to participate.
Book Fair
Each November, Barnes & Noble creates an in-school pop-up store that introduces students to a wide variety of books and authors. Entry is free, but it’s hard to leave without at least one of the many exciting offerings: art appreciation books, volumes for animal and nature lovers, old and new series, a huge selection of games that develop skills, and of course joke books and bookmarks.
Holiday Boutique
With its huge array of $10 and under items, the Summit Holiday Boutique is a phenomenal opportunity for you to shop on your own for the special people in your life during the holiday season. We will provide you with worksheets to help you plan, budget, and test out your
math skills.
Movie and Snacks
We recognize that it’s hard to get back in the swing after the long holiday break. Our January Movie Day helps smooth the way. The event takes place in the Upper School gym. Siblings are welcome.
Mad Science Day
This event takes place in the Upper School gym and includes a fascinating show and workshop focused around the wonders of science. Siblings welcome.
Mets Baseball
Our annual May outing to Citi Field is always a home run. Open to both Upper and Lower School students and their sports-fan families.
Brooklyn Cyclones/Staten Island Yankees Baseball
Our annual Father’s Day baseball outing takes us to one of these two minor league baseball stadiums. The friendly atmosphere and close-to-the-action seating make this a great way
to celebrate with Dad.
End-of-Year Family Picnic
The season sendoff takes you and your family to the great outdoors at nearby Cunningham Park. We have relay races and carnival games, opportunities to hangout with your friends, and lots of great food.
