Class of 2018 Gift Fund

Senior Class Gift Leader
Beth Torin, Parent of Rachel Torin

As our children graduate from Summit, they stand on the threshold of new opportunities. Looking back, their time at Summit becomes even more memorable – the fun they had, lasting friendships formed, the teachers who provided the patience and understanding that they needed while challenging them to reach their greatest potential. They came here as children who learned differently and are now leaving as young adults who are ready to face the new chapter in their lives. Whether it is a job, a gap year, trade school, or college, they have Summit to thank for helping to make them the people that they are today. The years at Summit will always hold a special place in their hearts, as well as our own, and the contributions of our class will help ensure that future students have the same opportunities. I can’t see a better way of saying thank you!

On June 21, I will be watching Rachel graduate after an amazing eight years at Summit, and as a parent of a senior, I am asking you to contribute to the Senior Gift Fund, our class gift to the school. The funds raised through this initiative will help support the transformation of Summit’s computer lab this summer into a state-of-the-art Innovation and Media Center. The total cost of the project is estimated at $65,000.

The current computer lab is part of the original building and dates from the 1960s. A new Innovation and Media Center will function as classroom, studio, and presentation space and provide the digital learning opportunities that would equip Summit’s students with competencies they need to thrive now and in futures yet to unfold. This rebuild is not just a passing fad in education – it is the key to offering engaging and relevant learning experiences that prepare today’s students for post-secondary pursuits, the workforce, and life.

In the past, gifts have ranged from $100 to $60,000. However, anything you contribute will be greatly appreciated. When we work together, as we’ve done these many years, our combined efforts can continue to make a meaningful difference to the school and help us leave Summit better than we found it, just as others have done before us. Lets show them that we can have 100% participation, and any donation will be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to you and and your graduate! Looking forward to seeing you on Graduation Day.
